ABOUT ME

Marco Viaña is an award-winning Filipino actor, director, designer, and arts manager. He currently serves as Festival Co-Director of the Virgin Labfest and Associate Artistic Director of Tanghalang Pilipino, the National Performing Arts Company for Theater of the Philippines.
He began his theater career performing lead roles as a member of the Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company before expanding his practice into directing, stage and costume design, arts facilitation, and international cultural exchange. As part of UNICEF Philippines’ pool of actor-facilitators, he conducted Basic Acting Classes, Forum Theater Workshops, and Children’s Art Workshops in communities across the country.
As a designer, his credits include Tanghalang Pilipino productions such as Lam-ang, Batang Mujahideen, Sandosenang Sapatos, Gregoria Lakambini, and Nang Dalawin ng Pag-ibig si Juan Tamad, which was presented at the World Theatre Congress in 2018.
Marco’s recent international engagements include being an Artist-in-Residence of the New England Foundation for the Arts Center Stage Program (USA, 2023), a guest speaker at the Yokohama Performing Arts Meeting (Japan, 2024), a participant of the Asian Producers’ Platform Camp in Taiwan and Japan (2025), and a delegate to the Programmers Forum of the Indonesia Dramatic Reading Festival (2025). He is currently a collaborator of the BIOTOPE Incubation Program of the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center.
